Brief History of Sunday

From the very beginnings of the church, Christians made it a custom to gather on the first day of the week to celebrate Jesus' resurrection. This meeting, which brought together Jewish and Gentile believers alike, was simple and joyful, and its main activity was to share bread and wine as a reminder of the triumph of the Lord Jesus Christ over the cross. Over the centuries, however, this custom took on different forms and was the subject of different theological interpretations that transformed it into the center of discussions and decisions not devoid of conflict.

González not only illustrates these processes for us but also offers us the possibility of understanding and renewing its current meaning based on its original purpose.
