Revival

Many books today, directly or indirectly, address the topic of revival. A large majority teach that it is partially or entirely human work; that, by following certain "steps," we can produce it among us. There are also those who confuse revival with other divine manifestations or human campaigns.

The interesting, and sad, thing is that our country, Spain, has not experienced a complete revival, and those who have tried to transport it from other countries and/or repeat its "stages" have failed or exchanged it for something else.

Those of us who do not know revival by experience, can we truly understand what it is? Can we learn from it? And even more importantly, should we expect it? How can we pray if we don't know exactly what we are asking for? Can we pray with faith and hope with confidence in God for a revival for our church and our country?

Brian H. Edwards is a well-known British author with several highly acclaimed books to his name. He has addressed various topics always with a precise, clear, and authoritative pen (or keyboard?), drawing from thirty years of experience as a pastor and representing different ministries in his country.

In this book, he intended to address people who perhaps have never read enough on this subject or what they have read has confused them even more. To do this, the author has approached biblical and historical revivals in different parts of the world, even questioning direct witnesses.

With this data, he has thoroughly examined the conditions that have occurred before, during, and after a revival, and has analyzed the response we should give and the conclusions it should lead us to. The intention, according to the author himself, is to inform the mind and inflame the heart so that we can plead with God to allow us to witness a revival.

The book is appropriately divided into six sections. It is easy to follow and read, without sacrificing depth, to the point that one sometimes has to stop and meditate and, with healthy envy, ask God for the same here and now.
