These simple words were all a woman said to me fifteen years after a conversation I didn't even remember. Her testimony of gratitude gave me much to think about and focused my attention on a series of questions that had been circling in my mind for some time: what does "grieve properly" mean? Is there such a thing as "good" grief? In what practical ways can we help people suffering from a significant loss? Are we prepared to comfort those afflicted by the death of a loved one? How are some untimely and incomprehensible deaths understood? Does faith in a personal God make a real difference in that grieving process?"
In these pages, we will focus on two types of loss: the death of a loved one and divorce. Our goal is to help those who have been affected by the suffering inherent in these two forms of separation.
