The authors of this volume, John Bunyan and Thomas Goodwin, lived three centuries ago, which will explain to the reader the curious nature of some of the language and logic used in their respective works: Prayer and The Return of Prayer. This style, however, does not in any way undermine the authority with which both wrote. The fact that their books are still read after three hundred years is sufficient proof of their unique and enduring quality. Let us read these pages carefully and frequently. At the end of the book, the reader will find an appendix with biographical data on the authors.Â
