"This treatise was well written for new member classes. Pastor Smallman speaks in a gentle and pastoral manner. I don't know of another resource that addresses the same material this way" Phillip Graham Ryken.
Many times people ask, "What is a Reformed church?" The author says, "During my thirty years as pastor of the Presbyterian Church in McLean, Virginia, I was often asked this fundamental question. It was there that I began to write this answer."
In simple and concise terms, here Pastor and Professor Smallman discusses the distinctive doctrines known as Reformed:
The Scriptures
The Sovereignty of God
The Covenants
The Law of God
The Church and the Sacraments
The Kingdom of God
"Pastor Smallman does a wonderful job explaining a lot of material without sacrificing clarity or precision. His style is easy to read and his tone conversational, yet it is equally rich in content. He expresses himself in a way that avoids polemics and criticism" Barry Traver.
