Gratitude is a choice. But if we do not choose it, by default we have chosen ingratitude. Not being grateful—daily and deliberately—costs us more than we think. But when we choose a lifestyle of humble gratitude, we are aware of the benefits received from our kind Savior, and from those He has placed around us. When we are grateful to God and to others, bitterness and narcissism are replaced by joy and the humble understanding of how unworthy we are.
