Wright argues that mission is the fundamental key that unlocks the grand narrative of Scripture. Unlike other books on the biblical theology of mission—which are divided into two sections, one for each Testament—most chapters in this book include reflections based on both Testaments. The first part of the book considers the importance of a missiological hermeneutic. The rest of the book is organized into sections that, in turn, address the three main approaches to Israel's worldview in the Old Testament, which are also foundational to the Christian worldview when understood in relation to Christ: The God of Mission, The People of Mission, and The Arena of Mission.
