From the beginning, the people of God have been favored by Him with the gift and privilege of singing. Their joyful song reflects the nature of God and His presence among them. That is why it is pleasing for God's people to raise their hymns, psalms, and songs of praise to their God, because it pleases Him, as much as it pleases the people who recognize that He is worthy of all praise and worship. In this way, we worship God by raising our songs and praises, not to excite ourselves, nor to be entertained, or to feel spiritually elevated, or to fulfill the tradition of our temple and its worship, or simply to enjoy the beautiful tones and melodies of religious music. Our primary motive in singing is to honor God and give Him His due worship, demonstrating our love, gratitude, adoration, and devotion.
