This booklet contains a powerful message preached by Spurgeon in London in November 1859, the year of a great revival in that city.
Based on Numbers 21:8, this famous preacher divides his exposition into two parts. In the first, he clearly shows the unbeliever the state of perdition in which he finds himself, and he does so in terms of the guilt of sin, the condemning sentence hanging over the sinner, his inability to save himself, and (even worse) his unwillingness to do so. In the second, by contrast, he admirably and persuasively expounds the remedy provided by Christ and announced to us in the Gospel.
