In the last great religious revival in Great Britain, just over a hundred years ago, no figure attracted more attention than Brownlow North (1810-1875). Although his family was distinguished as parliamentarians and church leaders, North lived a carefree life as a sportsman, soldier, and landowner until an unforgettable night in 1854. The reason for the change in his life has not been described in greater detail than in the chapters of this book, which were part of the open-air speeches he gave during the revival in Northern Ireland in 1859.
