The doctrine of imputation constitutes the very center and fundamental rock of the Gospel. All humanity, since the fall in Adam, is dead in trespasses and sins. However, our sin is laid upon Christ on the Cross, and His righteousness is given to us through faith and repentance. Without imputation, all that remains for us is salvation by works.
