Trusting God even when life hurts

Why is it easier to know God than to trust Him? Because obeying Him makes sense to us, and in most cases His laws seem reasonable and wise, and even when we don't want to obey them, we accept that they are good for us. But the circumstances in which we find ourselves often demand an explanation. When unexpected, irrational, or even fatal explanations arise unjustly, we feel confused or frustrated, and soon begin to doubt God's concern for us or His control over our lives.

Adversity is difficult to bear, and sometimes to understand. If God were really in control, why would He allow a tragic accident or the loss of an important job? How could He allow cancer in a loved one or the death of a child? Facing His concern for us, we ask, "Why is God allowing this? Or what did I do wrong?"
