The Book of Daniel is unique in the Bible. Not only because of its prophetic-apocalyptic theme, but also because it was written and preserved in two languages (Hebrew and Aramaic), to which passages and chapters in Greek were added.
Generally speaking, four elements have been distinguished in the tradition of the Book of Daniel: a sapiential feature, an apocalyptic feature, a historical feature, and a canonical-theological feature. The correct reading and understanding of this book depend on their proper formulation.
