Three basic theological convictions underpin this work, which is the product of people from diverse ministries and cultural backgrounds:
That God revealed Himself through Jesus Christ, the living Word, and that revelation has been recorded in the Holy Scriptures to serve as the normative authority in all matters relating to Christian faith and conduct.
That the Holy Spirit uses the Bible personally and communally to make known God's will for human life in all its aspects and for the whole of creation.
That for the Bible to fulfill its purpose, it is necessary to read, study, and interpret it in a spirit of prayer, using the principles of exegesis and hermeneutics, including not only the investigation of the historical context of the biblical writings but also the historical context where its interpretation takes place today.
