John Charles Ryle (1816-1900) was an Anglican evangelical pastor in Liverpool, England. He wrote three major works: Holiness; Practical Religion; and Christian Leaders of the Eighteenth Century. His third work, and the one of greatest historical significance, had never been translated into Spanish until now. This work is not only a historical compendium of the revivals that took place in the 18th century through the preaching of men like George Whitefield, John Wesley, and Daniel Rowlands, and which were crucial in the formation of the Modern Evangelical Church; but also, with his characteristic simplicity and clarity, Ryle outlines important pastoral and preaching applications.

This book is essential reading for every pastor or Christian who takes the Scriptures seriously. It is impossible to read Ryle's work and not cry out in prayer, "Lord, do it again!" Among the features of this book are: - An analysis of the preaching and lessons for pastoral ministry from men used by God in the greatest revivals in history. - A description of the formation of modern Evangelicalism, the revival and decline of the Protestant Church, and the Methodist revival that would later lead to the formation of Pentecostalism. - A biography, context, and main theological and practical distinctives of men of God used for the development and expansion of the Evangelical Church.
