Before the Cross

Simon of Cyrene, the Roman soldiers, the two thieves, Mary and John... these are some of the characters analyzed by the author. Their feelings, the motivations that led them to follow Jesus, their impressions and their words before that extraordinary and innocent being who allowed himself to be apprehended and executed out of love for humanity and the salvation of his people will also appear. The historical account is described with exquisite delicacy and has nothing to do with the morbid crudeness of Mel Gibson's The Passion of the Christ.

Before the Cross is faithful to the historical events that appear in the Bible; it does not seek easy tears but rather to present the truth of the Gospel. This faithfulness will not prevent the author from enriching his exposition with suggestions and interpretations of the biblical text, bringing luminous rays of light to it. Supported by sound theology, spiritual applications will naturally, clearly, and incisively unfold for the reader, who will be forced to confront their own life before the Cross.

Andrés Birch reclaims for evangelical literature the art of the short story, almost journalistic, simple, clear, and direct. The intellectual, the housewife, the worker, the child, or the young person will enjoy reading it, learn on each of its pages, and be notably edified by its reflections.
